‘Fill 10,000 vacant posts of assistant professors’, says PMK founder S Ramadoss | Chennai News

VILLUPURAM: PMK founder-leader S Ramadoss on Tuesday urged the Tamil Nadu government to fill more than 10,000 vacant posts of assistant professors in government and aided arts and science colleges in the state at the earliest.
In a statement, the PMK leader urged the government to accord priority to guest teaching faculty members with more than 15 years of experience while filling the vacant assistant professor posts.
Ramadoss said the sanctioned strength of assistant professors in 204 government colleges stood at 10,079 while more than 7,000 posts are presently vacant. More than 70% of the sanctioned posts are lying vacant. He regretted that the government, despite knowing that the colleges cannot extend quality education with thousands of vacant posts, has not taken any concrete measures in filling the vacancies. He pointed out that similarly in government-aided colleges, the sanctioned strength stood at 10,610 and more than 3,000 posts were lying vacant.
