Ram Gopal Varma feels Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘naturally aggressive’ nature further triggered the boycott ‘Liger’ movement | Hindi Movie News

Ram Gopal Varma recently opened up about the debacle of Puri Jagannadh’s ‘Liger’ starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday.

In an interview with a news channel, the filmmaker said that Vijay is naturally aggressive. According to him, the actor is someone who loves to grab attention. RGV pointed out that South stars like Prabhas, Jr NTR, Ram Charan and others get love and respect from the audience because of their humility. The director added that Vijay’s aggressive speeches during the promotions of the film might have irked the audience which further triggered the boycott Liger movement.

The pan-India movie marked the Hindi debut of Vijay and Telugu debut of Ananya. It also starred actors like Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy and others in key roles. The makers also roped in boxing legend Mike Tyson for a special cameo in the movie. The movie is about an MMA artist who is speech impaired. He comes from Telangana to Mumbai to further hone his craft.

The film hit the theatres in August this year and received mixed reviews from the audience and the critics alike. It has also tanked at the box office.
