Tamil Nadu records 421 new Covid cases; 94 in Chennai | Chennai News

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu reported 421 new cases of Covid 19 on Tuesday compared to 426 cases it reported on Monday. The state discharged 449 people leaving 4811 active cases in isolation at homes or hospitals. The death toll since March 2020 continued to remain stagnant at 38,038.
Chennai reported 94 new cases – an increase compared to 84 on Monday. Coimbatore also reported a hike to 63 compared to 52 on Monday. Chengalpet followed with 31 new cases, while Erode recorded 25 and Kanyakumari reported 20. All other districts reported fewer than 20 cases each. Seven districts reported between 10 and 19 new cases and 22 others reported cases in single digits. Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Ramanathapuram and Tirupathur reported zero new cases.
Of the 4,811 active cases, there were 2,219 in Chennai, 475 in Coimbatore and 288 in Chengalpet. Among 407 patients who were isolated in hospitals with Covid-19, 177 were on oxygen beds and 46 of them were in ICU.
