Firing on Begusarai roads: Victims recall scary stories | Patna News

BEGUSARAI: The victims of the Begusarai firing on Tuesday evening narrated scary stories while lying in hospitals. They claimed that the two criminals were firing on anyone and everyone on the roads as they came on a motorcycle from Bachwara side to Barauni and reportedly exited Begusarai district via Rajendra Setu.
A normal evening in Begusarai town, when people were returning from offices and buying vegetables and groceries turned into a bloodbath as the criminals fired indiscriminately.
One of the victims, Jito Paswan, an ice-cream vendor, said the criminals shot at him on NH- 28 in Bachhwara. “I was selling ice-cream on my pushcart. Suddenly, the motorcycle-borne criminals appeared and started firing from a pistol. I collapsed on the ground as one of the bullets hit me on my leg,” he said at Begusarai sadar hospital. A few other persons buying fish on the roadside also sustained injuries.
Another victim, Bharat Yadav, told this newspaper that he sustained bullet injury on his waist as criminals sped away firing from behind.
“I am a contractual worker at the Barauni refinery project. The incident happened when I was returning home on my bicycle near Barauni thermal power station,” he said.
Chandan Kumar, who was killed in the incident, used to work as an engineer for a private company involved in implementation of government electrical projects. Begusarai DM Raushan Kushwaha said the injured people were undergoing treatment at private hospitals as well as Begusarai Sadar and other nearby government hospitals.
“Victims are undergoing treatment at Sadar hospital and few private hospitals. Three police teams have been formed to nab the criminals,” said the Begusarai SP.
