Hc Grants Interim Bail To Victor Das | Guwahati News

Guwahati: The Gauhati high court on Friday granted interim bail to the vlogger-teacher, Victor Das, who was arrested last week over his cash-for-jobs allegation in the just-concluded written exams for recruitments in various government posts in the state. The court has sought the case diary by September 29.
While hearing the bail petition of the vlogger, the bench of Justice Parthivjyoti Saikia, said, “Under the given circumstances of the case, it is hereby directed that the petitioner, Victor Das, shall be released on interim bail on a bail bond of Rs 25,000 with one surety of like amount to the satisfaction of the chief judicial magistrate of Kamrup (Metro).”
Arguing the case for Das in the court, senior advocate Angshuman Bora said, “We have drawn the court’s attention to the charges imposed on him that are not applicable. The common feature in both sections 153A and 505 of the IPC, which were slapped on him, is inciting feelings of enmity and hatred or ill will between different religious or racial or linguistic or regional groups or casts and communities. It is necessary that at least two such groups or communities should be involved in order to attract those provisions.”
He submitted before the court that “merely inciting the feelings of one community or group without any reference to any other community or group cannot attract either of the said two sections of the IPC.”
The state government conducted the recruitment exams for about 30,000 Grade III and IV posts on August 21, 28 and September 11.
