CBI has rightly sought cancellation of Tejashwi Yadav’s bail in IRCTC scam case: Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Jaiswal | Patna News

PATNA: BJP state president Sanjay Jaiswal on Sunday said the central bureau of investigation (CBI) has ‘rightly’ moved a Delhi-based special court for cancellation of bail granted to Deputy CM and RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav in the IRCTC scam.
Talking to media persons here just a day after the Delhi-based special court issued a notice to Yadav on the CBI’s plea, Jaiswal alleged that the RJD leader had “threatened” sleuths of the investigating agency as well as the Union minister of state for home affairs and Ujiarpur MP Nityanand Rai.
“Every person in Bihar knows what the slang “thandaa kar denge” means, said Jaiswal, referring to a press conference addressed by Tejashwi last month wherein he had lashed out at the Union minister Rai who was the state BJP president before Jaiswal.
“Tejashwi had also issued an open threat to CBI officials, reminding them of their families and their vulnerability post-retirement. He had the audacity to say such things while on bail. The CBI has ‘rightly’ sought cancellation of his bail,” Jaiswal, a three-time Lok Sabha member from Paschim Champaran seat, told reporters.
The Delhi court had in October 2018 granted bail to Tejashwi after he appeared before it in pursuance to summons issued against him in the matter related to alleged irregularities in granting the operational contract of two IRCTC hotels to a private firm. Tejashwi has been named in the case that pertains to a period when his father Lalu Prasad was the railway minister from 2004-2009 during UPA-I government though Tejashwi himself was then a minor boy.
The BJP state chief also refuted allegations that the BJP, which has been leading the ruling NDA at the Centre for the last 8 years, played a role in registration of the case against Tejashwi and other members of Lalu family. “Most of the information against Tejashwi was provided by the leaders of CM Nitish Kumar’s party,” said Jaiswal.
On Saturday, Special Judge (CBI cases), Delhi, Geetanjali Goel issued a notice to Tejashwi on the application moved by the CBI and sought his reply by September 28.
The CBI, in its petition to the special court, pointed out that Tejashwi, in a recent press conference, attempted to subvert the process of law and thwart the entire investigation as well as the consequent trial, and blatantly abused the liberty granted to him in the IRCTC scam case.
