RAIPUR: In a major political development in Chhattisgarh late Sunday evening, Janta Congress Chhattisgarh – Jogi (JCC-J) core committee expelled its legislative party leader Dharamjit Singh from the party for six years.
JCC-J national president Dr Renu Jogi and state president Amit Jogi handed over a letter to Chhattisgarh Assembly speaker Charandas Mahant regarding the expulsion of Dharamjit Singh. Dr Jogi will be the new legislative leader.
The senior leader, Dharamjit Singh, had come under the scanner of the party when he attended a seminar organised by the BJP in Raipur on August 27 in connection with ‘[email protected]: Dreams Meet Delivery’. The Union home minister addressed this seminar.
JCC-J saw this act of Dharamjit as gross violation of party principles which is dedicated to the upliftment of SC/ST, poor, backward society, which had been the motto of former chief minister and party founder Ajit Jogi.
According to an official press release of the party, the core committee of the party found the act of Mungeli’s Lormi MLA Dharamjit Singh against the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Poor and Most Backward Classes of the society. While expelling him, the core committee left the final decision to Dr Renu Jogi.
The party said that Dharamjit Singh has also been constantly neglecting the party workers and giving importance to the people of a particular class, said the party. The expelled MLA has also been accused of giving priority to his personal interest.
Dharamjit Singh was elected in the 2018 assembly elections on JCC-J ticket because of the name and work of Ajit Jogi, said the party. The expelled MLA did not work as per the principles of ‘Social Justice’ and ‘Chhattisgarh First ‘ of the party.
The JCC-J also accused BJP of conspiring to end the regional parties. The JCC-J is the only recognized regional party left in Chhattisgarh.
