‘Megalomaniac’ who glorifies graft: BJP attacks Arvind Kejriwal | India News

NEW DELHI: Dubbing Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal a “megalomaniac” who considers himself God after winning assembly polls in two states, BJP on Sunday took a swipe at him saying it was a matter of “surprise” that the AAP leader did not say US President Joe Biden was also afraid of him.
At a press conference, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said AAP has “disintegrated” in Himachal Pradesh and its president in Uttarakhand quit the party even though Kejriwal made tall claims about his party’s prospects in these states. Patra also hit back at Kejriwal for claiming his party was “kattar imandaar” (honest to the core), he said it was in fact “kattar beimaan” and corrupt. BJP reacted after Delhi CM claimed that BJP in Gujarat is rattled and was targeting AAP fearing defeat in the state.
In response to Delhi CM suggesting that AAP leaders should be prepared for arrest by central probe agencies, Patra accused him of “glorifying” corruption and said he has a history of defending his “tainted” colleagues before they had to quit due to mounting evidence.
“He is a megalomaniac and bayan bahadur (one who makes big claims)”,” Patra alleged. “The man who took a commission in liquor trade compares himself to Kanha, the BJP spokesperson said, in reaction to Kejriwal likening his party to “Kanha” — Lord Krishna’s child form who slayed big demons.
Patra said Gujarat has been on the development path for decades under the BJP rule and will remain so.
It is “garvee Gujarat” (proud Gujarat) which won’t run according to the diktat of Delhi’s Tughlaq, Patra said and attacked Kejriwal for his earlier association with activist Medha Patkar, whose long opposition to Sardar Sarovar dam in the state has drawn strong criticism from BJP.
He also took a dig at Kejriwal over his defence of Sisodia, noting that the AAP leader believes that “those who rise early and do not drink cannot be corrupt”.
No government has seen so many of its ministers resigning due to various charges in such a short period as has the AAP dispensation, Patra said citing Jitender Singh Tomar, and Sandeep Kumar, among others.
