Swantham Sujatha’s Saramma, Rashmi Jayagopal passes away at 51


Actress Rashmi Jayagopal, who became a household name with the character Saramma in ‘Swantham Sujatha’ passed away. As per sources, the 51-year-old, who was hospitalized for a couple of days due to some health issues, breathed her last on Sunday evening (September 18). Rashmi is survived by her husband and son.

Actress Chandra Lakshmi, who plays Sujatha in ‘Swantham Sujatha’, has penned a heart-touching note paying condolences to her ‘Chechimma’.

“Not even in my weirdest dream did I think this would be our last pic together.. Our dearest Rashmi Chechi, my Chechima has gone forever to be with her Krishna.She is the epitome of love and has touched everyone’s life with her care..We lost her today and thinking of being in the shooting spot without her presence is going to be very difficult for all of us.. Everyone at Swantham Sujatha will miss her dearly. On a personal front, we have lost one of our most important family members..:( Return If Possible,” reads her post.

Actor Kishor Satya also shared a note remembering the on-screen Saramma.

“Not many will recognize her if I say Rashmi, but you will surely know her when I say, Swantham Sujatha’s Saramma. We lost that smile. Saramma is gone. A couple of days before Chandra and Ansar informed that Rashmi, who went to meet her relative in Trivandrum fell ill and she is been admitted to the hospital. But, within a week, she left us. People say life is full of unexpected events. But, dear life, please avoid such shocking experiences. Condolences” reads the translation of Kishor’s Malayalam note.
