The CBI is investigating the SSC teaching and non-teaching staff recruitment scam on an order of the Calcutta high court, which is monitoring the probe.
Earlier, the CBI sleuths conducted raid and search operations at the residences of Bhattacharya.
He was the Chairman of WBSSC in the period between 2014 and 2018, with Partha Chatterjee as the education minister, when the teachers’ recruitment scam purportedly took place.
ED submits chargesheet
Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate has submitted a chargesheet in the alleged irregularities in the SSC recruitment.
The agency has also mentioned roles of former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee and his aide Arpita Mukherjee in the chargesheet.
The ED said it has attached assets worth Rs 46.22 crore “beneficially owned” by Chatterjee and Mukherjee as part of a money laundering probe.
The agency had seized Rs 49.80 crore cash, gold and other jewellery worth more than Rs 55 crore after it conducted raids in this case in Kolkata and other parts of West Bengal.
