Bengaluru: Bagmane razes concrete slabs encroaching SWD | Bengaluru News

BENGALURU: The developer of Bagmane Tech Park on Tuesday cleared on its own concrete slabs spanning 80 metres and covering the stormwater drain scything through the campus, BBMP said.
The developer had earlier approached the Lokayukta seeking directions to BBMP to follow legal procedures before carrying out demolition. On the Lokayukta’s directions, the Palike later carried out a survey issuing notice and marked encroachments. A BBMP engineer overseeing the demolition of SWD encroachments in Mahadevapura zone said the tech park removed the slabs covering the drain and enabled flow of water.
Wipro demolished a compound wall, termed an encroachment, on its Doddakannelli campus under BBMP supervision. On Monday, the civic agency had opened a portion of the drain razing a retaining wall, after which Wipro requested that it would cut the metals on its compound using gas cutters.
Wipro said it is committed to supporting ecology of the area it operates in. “We are proactively working with BBMP to increase the capacity and access of the SWD passing through our Doddakannelli campus, built as per plans sanctioned by the authorities concerned. Wipro has also opened a part of the wall to enable BBMP to carry out these efforts easily,” it said in a statement.
BBMP razed a 2.4-metre-long compound wall and a tin shed at an under-construction apartment of Salarpuria. tnn
