Three of family die in house collapse in UP’s Deoria | Varanasi News


GORAKHPUR: Three members of a family were killed after their dilapidated house in Malviya Road area of Deoria district collapsed around 3am on Monday.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered condolences to the family and announced ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each. Superintendent of police, Deoria, Sankalp Sharma, said that the police received information on U about the two-storey house collapse on Ansari road around 3am.
The house belonged to one Kuldeep Baranwal, who had given the house on rent to a family on the ground floor. “Locals heard crumbling noise in the wee hours and woke up to find the entire building being reduced to rubble,” Sharma said, while narrating the sequence of events.
Later, a unit of fire and police departments pulled out three injured bodies, who were later taken to a hospital and declared dead. They were identified as Dilip Gond (36), his wife Chandani Gaud (32), and his two-year-old daughter.
Police said Dilip was engaged in the work of flower decoration. Deoria, DM, Jitendra Pratap Singh inspected the spot and expressed condolences to the mother Prabhawati and announced Rs 12 lakh ex-gratia amount. “A house under the Kanshiram scheme was allotted to Prabhawati Devi in Saket Nagar but she was living with her only son somewhere else. There were two more families living in the other part of the house and a case between owner and tenants is pending in court. We are taking care of the other two families,” said the DM.
