Telangana: Hostel warden sacked after food poisoning | Hyderabad News


HYDERABAD: After more than 50 students fell ill due to food poisoning at the Minorities Welfare Gurukulam School-1 at Kagaznagar in Kumarambheem-Asifabad district, district authorities on Wednesday suspended the school principal and removed the warden of the hostel.
The students who were admitted to a hospital on September 19 night have recovered and were discharged from the hospital. Agitated parents of the students took their children home. Parents of children who were not affected also chose to take their wards home.

Food poisoning: Principal suspended, warden fired

It may be mentioned here that the students fell ill after complaining of stomach ache, vomiting and loose motions. The local police reached the hostel as several students staged protests against the authorities for their negligence. The students had found worms in the food served to them.
Student groups and political parties, which reached the hostel, staged a demonstration and demanded that action be taken against the school and hostel staff.
District minorities welfare officer Rabbani informed on Wednesday that principal Venkat Prasad had been placed under suspension and warden Musa Khan removed. On Tuesday, zilla parishad vice chairman Koneru Krishna Rao, who inspected the quality of food that was being served to the students, demanded action against the principal and warden.
Meanwhile, daily wage workers and outsourcing staff in the Girijan and Ashram schools have announced an agitation programme. They said they had been denied their wages for the past four months. They have planned to take out a rally to Hyderabad on September 26 demanding that their wages be paid and the outsourcing staff be regularized.
