Telangana: Rajdhani mows down three rail workers in Peddapalli | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: Three railway workers died in a freak accident after the Bengaluru-bound Rajdhani Express ran over them in Peddapalli district on Tuesday.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) said the incident occurred at 4pm when the Delhi-Bengaluru Rajdhani Express mowed down the workers between Cheekurai and Kothapalli stations near Hussain Miya Vagu area.
Two workers – Mokadam Durgaiah of Mahabubabad and Venu of Sultanabad – died on the spot. Pegada Srinivas of Peddapalli, who was grievously injured, was pronounced dead upon arrival at a hospital. Srinivas and Venu were contract workers.
Senior railway officials said the workers were greasing the tracks at the time of the accident on the double-track section.
Workers failed to hear train sound
A goods train was passing by the adjacent tracks. Owing to this, the officials suspect the workers did not hear the oncoming express train which struck them at great speed. Police sent the bodies to a local government hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered under CrPC’s section of unnatural death.
