Cong Mla Takes Mud Bath In Godda’s Flooded Highway | Ranchi News

Dumka: Congress and BJP got into a political slugfest over a road on Wednesday after Congress’s Mahagama MLA Deepika Pandey Singh sat on an inundated NH-133 early in the morning. She later poured the muck-filled water on her to register protest over its poor condition.
Deepika also accused BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, an MP from Godda constituency, of apathy. Dubey and BJP soon hit back stating that the Hemant Soren-led coalition government, of which Congress is also a part, has failed to repair of this stretch in Godda constituency despite transfer of funds from the Centre last November.
Deepika later tweeted: “Public representatives are forced to take to streets in this manner due to government apathy.”
After initially announcing to continue the stir till the renovation starts, she soon turned it into a symbolic protest after a few hours on the waterlogged stretch which connects Mehrma on the Jharkhand-Bihar border.
Dubey, who often takes potshots at Soren and his government, was soon to react. Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “It seems that CM Hemant Soren doesn’t even listen to this Congress MLA. Her stir is against her own government. The state government is supported to maintain this stretch of NH. The Centre has already given funds six months back but the CM, who also holds portfolio of road department, is sitting on it.”
Amid the blame game, local residents rued how unchecked transportation of mined stones and boulders from Sahebganj district on trucks has turned the condition of the road from bad to worse.
“Such heavy waterlogging along the NH is mainly due to the potholes caused by indiscriminate plying of overloaded trucks. But neither the local administration nor the government took any effort to check it and improve the road,” said noted social worker Pawan Kumar and a resident of Mahagama.
