This Indian e-commerce major gives its employees annual 11-day mandatory break in the middle of festive season

NEW DELHI: For the second year in a row, SoftBank-backed e-commerce major firm Meesho has announced an 11-day companywide break from October 22 to November 1. Termed Reset and Recharge, this industry-first initiative will allow the company’s employees to completely unplug from work and prioritize their mental well-being after the busy festive sale period.
Meesho has been at the forefront of several industry-first and forward-looking policies such as a boundaryless workplace model, infinite wellness leave, 30-week gender-neutral parental leave and 30- day gender reassignment leave.
In May 2022, Meesho today announced an unlimited leave policy which will enable employees to avail up to 365 days of paid leaves. The policy is applicable if an employee or their loved one is impacted by a critical illness that requires frequent or constant hospitalisation. The initiative is part of Meesho’s comprehensive MeeCARE programme that has been designed with an aim to boost holistic well-being for Meeshoites and their families.
With a deep focus on the holistic well-being of employees, the firm said the move is a reflection of Meesho’s continued commitment to building a people-centric workplace.
At a time when burnout and anxiety have emerged as key concerns for today’s workforce, Meesho said Reset and Recharge will show the way for other companies to adopt similar employee-first practices.
“Building a great company culture requires one to acknowledge that work-life balance, rest and rejuvenation are key to employee well-being. With Reset and Recharge, we continue to push the envelope and redefine conventional workplace norms,” said Ashish Kumar Singh, Chief Human Resources Officer, Meesho.
Employees can choose to decompress however they want – whether it’s spending time with near and dear ones, traveling or picking up a new hobby. Such progressive policies have helped augment our employee centricity and industry-leading retention rates.
“Even astronauts need breaks. So do folks working on moonshot missions at @Meesho_Official..Work is important, well-being is priceless,” CEO Vidit Aatrey tweeted on Wednesday.
Meesho was recently recognised by xto10x’s “Startups Employees Love” in the categories of ‘People Excellence’ and ‘Best for Women’, the company said.
Meesho is one of the largest Indian social e-commerce platforms, where women can start their online business with zero investment by reselling Meesho’s products to their online contacts.
