Two Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board officials trapped while returning Rs 2.5 lakh bribe | Bengaluru News

BENGALURU: In a strange case, two Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) officials were caught when they were returning Rs 2.5 lakh bribe they’d taken from a person on the rider that he would withdraw the graft complaint levelled against the duo earlier.
Lokayukta police on Wednesday trapped and arrested AB Vijaya Kumar, special land acquisition officer, and surveyor Raghunath from KIADB.
The Lokayukta office said the person had given Rs 2.5 lakh to the officials for receiving a no-objection certificate. “The NoC was issued to say that a small part of the person’s land in Laggere village won’t be acquired by KIADB. After paying the money, the person filed a written complaint with the joint commissioner, land acquisition, KIADB, accusing the officials of bribery. The duo requested the person to withdraw the complaint and promised to return the Rs 2.5 lakh,” the press note said.
